Retreat Poster Info Home

For the 2008 Whitehead Retreat, we're using the same procedures we used last year to tame the HP800PS printer ("SHREDDOR"). As many of us know, SHREDDOR is a sensitive piece of equipment and cannot process a multitude of large format jobs without a little hand-holding.

This site is one of a few measures we took last year. In addition to the web site we also implemented the following:

1) Retreat Poster web site with tips, suggestions, alternatives for users who are preparing posters for this year's retreat:

- Printing by Appointment - PLEASE READ - this page outlines the procedures for poster printing

- Poster Specifications - gives info on poster dimensions, how to set up a poster in Illustrator, file size recommendations, suggestions for ease of printing

- How to Print - getting the settings right on your document before hitting "print"

- Printer Maintenance - where to find supplies, error codes, suggestions

- Common Problems - common printing problems, tips for resolving them

- Alternatives - other ideas for creating your poster

- Poster Contest - about the poster contest

2) A class to teach users how to utilize Illustrator for poster design:

- August 27th, 2-3 pm; contact graphics support to sign up

3) New printing procedures specifically for the retreat:

- Users can sign up for printing ahead of time.

- Scheduled printing of Illustrator files will be managed by IT & graphics staff during normal work hours (8am - 6pm).

- After hours printing will be unregulated (no supervision, no restrictions from 6pm - 8am & weekends).

Explore the other pages of this site for details on how printing will proceed this year, how to set up your documents, what to do if you want to print your poster on your own, and alternatives to using the poster printer.
